Austin thanks Iraq War veterans with parade, helps them with job fair

The 36th Infantry Division band marched along Congress Avenue on Saturday morning, leading lines of roller girls, politicians and troops among others who showed up to welcome the Iraq War veterans home.

Gleaming cars revved their engines while onlookers wearing red, white and blue waved American flags, cheering their appreciation.

Many signed the thank-you cards available on each block that volunteers will later send overseas.

But as some scattered after a ceremony outside the Capitol ended, others went inside where local employers and veteran organizations had gathered for a job and resource fair.
